[F&B REVIEW] Sumoboo, Pantai Indah Kapuk

Although I live near PIK area, which is the heaven of foods. It's also the place where dessert shops like Sumoboo, Shirayuki, Shirakuma, etc. first started to become famous. But I haven't tried most of them for like after a year or maybe a few years after the trend started. Slowly, I'm catching up with those shops. I tried Sumoboo probably a few months ago to be honest. You know, college life is hard guys I've been so busy with a serious amount of project, homework, and exams #sigh.

Alright! Enough for the excuses, now let's get into the business. I went there with my friends. We only ordered two dishes because we went there after our dinner so we are feeling quite full but still wanted something sweet.

When I came there, it's packed but we could still get a seat. Even though it was kinda forced out. There are four of us but the table is very small, like literally small. The service is okay. I personally live the design, I will love everything that made from woods.

We ordered their two most famous and probably favorite menus. Here are what we ordered.

1. BOO!! Matcha
IDR 30k (not inc. tax)

At first we were about to order the strawberry one but it was sold out or not available I forgot. The shape of it is super cute. It forms some sort of a bear I supposed... This is the shaved-ice kind of dessert with ice cream, matcha sauce, pieces of strawberries, sweet condensed milk, and pieces of milo cereal.

I love the ice cream. The dish tasted nice, not too sweet, which is very important. But, honestly speaking there is nothing really "wow" about this dish. The matcha flavor is not strong. The price is quite affordable and the portion is quite big too.

2.  Nutella Bomb + chocolate mountain + sliced almond
IDR 40k (not inc. tax)

This is really the bomb, the famous nutella bomb. There are two kinds of this dish. The one with only the mochi and this one that came with shaved-ice. Nutella bomb is basically a mochi with a nutella filling. The mochi is chewy, of course, a little bit over my chewiness level but still tolerable. When you bite into it, it breaks down and the nutella is overflowing, filling up your mouth. Yep, it's that delicious.

The filling itself isn't came in a small amount in my opinion. The shaved-ice compliments the bomb very well. The sliced almond gave a nice crunchy texture to this dish. It's not too sweet either, which is good. The price is affordable too. If you are having a hard time finding this dish in their menu, they are at the Kakigori category, right under the BOO!! Kakigori.

Overall, Sumoboo is a good place if you are looking for sweets with a decent taste and an affordable prices. Their shop's interior is also nice and cozy. No wonder in all their branches, it's always so packed or there are even a waiting list for it.

[F&B REVIEW] Gojira Ice Cream Bars, PIK

If you come to PIK areas quite often, then you would notice that the changes to a restaurant is happening so fast. Like, if one restaurant is closed then it doesn't really take too long until it opened a new one. This restaurant is quite a new one, called Gojira Ice Cream Bars. It's located right next to BC's Cone, ice cream's restaurant buddies huh.

When I came here, it's not really full but people were keep coming, so I could sit there, talked with my friends and relaxed. This place is so cozy. There are also a lot of electrical sockets under every sofa, I sat on the sofa, but unfortunately it wasn't working.

So, anyway, judging by it's name, of course this restaurant's speciality is ice cream. But they are not only selling ice cream of course, there are other foods like pizza and martabak. They also sell drinks like milkshake and coffee.

Here are what I ordered.

1. One Flavour Twist Ice Cream
IDR 20k (not inc. tax)

Matcha and Black Sesame twisted

Cheesecake and Blueberry twisted

Overall, Gojira have 6 flavours. There are matcha, black sesame, chocolate, plain, cheesecake, and blueberry. You could buy from one until four flavour. You could also buy with the twist option, just like what I bought. So even when you buy the one flavour like I did, you could still get 2 flavour that twisted. But you can't choose to twist any flavour, there are matcha with black sesame, chocolate with plain, and cheesecake with blueberry. You are allowed to choose from these option if you want to for the twist one. As always, you could choose either with cup or cone. The waitress said that they made the cone.

Now let's get into the tasting. I honestly not satisfied. The taste were plain, I could barely taste the matcha and cheesecake. Even the black sesame doesn't taste strong. The blueberry one taste just like a candy that probably all of you have known. All of that not too sweet though but not too much to taste to be honest. These are soft served ice cream so it melted easily.

I like the cone, it buttery and not too crunchy, probably because it already get along with the ice cream. With that price which is quite affordable, as we speak this is a restaurant in PIK, the portion is big. I felt so full after ate this.

2. Choco Mars Pizza
IDR 75k (not inc. tax)

Pizza as a dessert might be a common thing in other countries but it's quite rare to find one who sell them in Jakarta. About the name, when I first read it I thought there will be a chocolate Mars as a topping but nope, it's only a name. So this menu is what caught me the first time I was looking at the menu.

It took quite some time until this menu was out. The pizza crust is the thin type and looked like it was cooked in a traditional pizza oven. The toppings are cheese, chocolate chips, small bits of Oreo, and marshmallow on the edges. No doubt, this looks absolutely attractive.

Unfortunately, it didn't have the base sauce so it's super dry. When you cut it, the toppings were falling everywhere because it's dry so the toppings didn't stick to the crust. But the taste is pretty good. The marshmallow was't really melted either so it didn't stick to the edges crust.

There are 8 slices so you could definitely share them and this only come in one size. One more thing, this would be best eaten while it's hot. If it's cold, it would be even more dry.

Overall, the service was great, it's fast, the waitress are polite and kind. The place is very cozy. The pizza took quite a long time to be out. The price is very affordable with a very acceptable and worth the portion. BUT, they really need to improve the ice cream's taste. If they named their restaurant with ice cream bars, how could your ice cream isn't that great though. They also need a little bit improvement on the pizza but worth to visit for the pizza.

P.S I don't know why the photos looked so bad, is it only me or what the hell is happened I have no idea so I'm really sorry...

[F&B REVIEW] Itadakimasu Restaurant, Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK)

This restaurant is located in Pantai Indah Kapuk. For some of you who are not familiar with PIK's area, this restaurant isn't located in the usual area which there are lots and lots of eating place like Sumoboo, Pungopang, Shirayuki, Shirokuma, BC's Cone, etc. This located in let's say it is a new area that I know that soon is going to be happening.

Alright! Back to our business. I knew about this restaurant from eatandtreats's blog (of course and as always LOL). Maybe a lot of people get hooked with this restaurant by the super cute looking food. Well, gotta admit, it is super cute!

The service was quite well. I went last Saturday at lunch time. The restaurant was full. Me and my friends had to be in the waiting list. But around 5 minutes later, we got our seat and it was on the second floor. The menu was already on the table so it is very efficient. There were a couple of waiters on the second floor so you don't have to go up and down if you want to order or if you want something.

The restaurant itself has a very cute interior. There are a couple of, well it looks like, a painting of the restaurant's icon at the second floor. The painting become sort of a wallpaper. Even on the stairs they got this big painting on the wall.

Here they are of what we ordered.

1. Starving Panda

IDR 48k (not inc. tax)

Well, well, well. This is like the star of the show. I assumed that the one panda that it's head fell down in the curry as the symbol of hungry. Maybe some of you questioned, why is the presentation looks so bad. I gotta tell you guys, that is what coming to my table to be honest.

Lemme tell you a story. As I said before, the restaurant was full and so did the 2nd floor. The table next to our table already had her food, it was also Starving Panda. Me and my friends took a glimpse of the food and we had high expectancy. But, the moment our food came, the expectancy gone far away. As you can see, the presentation is quite "dirty". What I meant by "dirty" is as you can see, the curry spilled on the panda and a couple spots again.

The chicken katsu looks super pale, it's not golden brown. But! The table next to us who also ordered the same food, looked so perfect, it is golden brown, no spilled curry, clean presentation. Our plate was just some ordinary round plate, but her plate was the fish-shaped plate. Maybe they run out of plate but aren't you supposed to have a lot of plates and supposed to served the same dish with the same type of plate... I know I complain a lot but I feel disappointed tho.

The potato and the carrot were not cooked well. It was still tough and the amount of it was too little compared to the whole food. Like you can count them with your fingers, especially the carrot. As the whole food, if you compared them, the amount of rice and chicken katsu is not balance. Maybe you only see the rice as 5 panda but it is actually A LOT because it is so compacted. The curry taste okay, nothing special. At the first bite, the pepper was going to kick you.

2. Sweet Drugs Churros
IDR 35k

This is super unique. I haven't seen anything like this before. It comes with three sauce, nutella, green tea, and cheese. The nutella sauce was too runny and the nutella taste wasn't strong. The green tea sauce was too thick. The cheese sauce was okay so I prefer this one rather than the other two.

This is the nutella sauce. Look how runny it is.

This is the green tea sauce. Look how thick it is.

The thing is the churros was quite though. It was quite hard to eat it. To be honest, I am quite dissapointed. Too much quite in a paragraph I need to stop LOL!

3. Ice Cream Sandwich Churros

IDR 30k

The churros in this dish was quite though too. The ice cream was not really sweet so it is a good thing. But the texture was quite flaky, and it melts as fast as the lightning HAHA.

I think presentation is everything and become the secret weapon from this restaurant, so maybe they could work harder to keep up the same presentation even if the restaurant is full. While on the other side, they should also work on the taste as well.

P.S I am not trying to make negatives impact on them. I wrote this honestly based on my experience when I was there. Hope this become an advice for them to help them improve.

[REVIEW] Organicrush_id Almond Milk

I've been wanted to try this almond milk since last month I think. I was super curious about how would it taste, since you know, I was a bit obsessed about living a healthy life. There are also a lot of people saying that almond milk is good for your health and also good for your diet.

So finally, I tried it when I went to Grand Indonesia. Why did I choose to buy it at their outlet? Because if you buy it online, there is a minimum which is 3 bottles, meanwhile it doesn't valid when you buy it at their store.

There are a lot of flavors, like Original, Matcha, Chocolate, Sweetened by Dates, and Coconut Cinnamon. There are two different types of size, the big one and the small one.

Oh, just to tell you that these almond milk didn't consist of sugar. 100% guaranteed.

I tried 3 different flavors, Original, Chocolate, and Matcha.
IDR 30k for the small bottle (like I bought)
IDR 50k for the big bottle

To be honest, I don't like the original one. Maybe because it didn't suit my taste. Super plain, like what I've said that they didn't use any sugar.

I love the chocolate one. It tasted like the usual chocolate milk. So maybe people will get used to this flavor more than the others. This is also their best sellers.

For the green tea one, the taste of the green tea is not too strong. As a green tea freak, it's too plain for me. But at least it's not as plain as the original one.

Overall, you will find that the taste is a bit weird at the first sip. But after a few sip, you will find that it's not that bad and quite delicious and unique since it's almond milk ;)

Like an old proverbs saying that, health is expensive and doesn't always feel good. This milk is a bit pricey tho, but I'm telling you, it's using a high quality material and it's pure almond so it's expensive and of course healthy! :)

If you don't like to just drink it, you can use it as a mix with cereal or with granola, use it to make your favorite smoothie and a lot of other creations that you can think of. Say yeay to healthy life! :)

P.S: they have some promo you can check it on their instagram that I linked below
P.S.S: they have such a cutie bottle (oh yeah!)

[RECIPE] Strawberry Mille Feuille

I finally got wifi at my home so I can easily connect to internet via my lovely laptop and off course can easily post and update my blog. Yeay!

So, I've made this super easy sweet treats, I think, since 2 months ago. I know... i know.... I'm such a lazy gurl LOL.

This is super easy to make, I promise you and super delicious yet super fat. Oh yeah, I don't know why but I've been controlling my food a bit more strict lately. I meant not super strict until I eat like a vegan, but I reduce my meal's portion, eat less meat as possible, eat or drink low fat and less sugar stuff, and eat fruits and vegetable as much as I can, and off course no fast food in my list of meal. But if it's holiday I can't resist sweet treats LMAO ;)

I adapted this recipe from Nasi Lemak Lovers :D
This will make 2 servings

Ingredients
1 sheet of puff pastry (8”x8”), thawed
200g whipping cream (dairy)
30g caster sugar
1/2tsp strawberry flavoured powder (optional, for colour)
Fresh strawberry (to taste)
Powdered sugar, for dusting

Steps
1. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 180C.

2. Place puff pastry sheet on the baking tray, using a fork, prick holes over the whole pastry to prevent it from puffing up while baking. Slice pastry sheet to half. Bake for 25mins or until golden brown. Remove from oven, wait till slightly cool, slice each sheet into 3 small rectangular.

At first, I only pricked holes like that, not much and the pastry became so big and thick. It became so puffy. So I pricked more holes, like this:

3. Add sugar and whipping cream in a mixing bowl, place this mixing bowl over a large mixing bowl that filled with ice water. Beat over high speed till soft peak.

4. Put your strawberry into the juicer as much as you want and blend it. Then, add to the whipped cream and continue to beat till stiff peak.

This is after I put in the strawberry juice. You can see there is a difference in the texture. But I don't use the strawberry powder so as you can see the colour is a bit plain.

5. To decorate, place one baked puff pastry on a serving plate, pipe cream on top and place some strawberry. Place second piece of baked puff pastry, pipe cream and place some strawberry. Then place third piece of baked puff pastry, dust with some powdered sugar then serve.

See? Look how easy to make this sweet treats. And I'm telling you that this pastry is hard to resist! So you better get up and get your body work baby ;) If u feel that 3 stacks of pastry is hell too high, you can just grab a pastry and dip it in the whipped cream and take a bite of fresh strawberry! That's hell of a yum!!

This sweet treat is also flexible you can change the filling with whatever you want, lemon, chocolate, or kiwi. I ever made this with passion fruit juice, it's so delicious off course. Just do as you like :)

[REVIEW] Paul Patisserie Pacific Place Jakarta

Finally my exam is over and I finally could taste an internet again because my internet at home super sucks >.<

Sooooooooooooooo I know I have been very lazy to update in this month and finally today I'll make another post.

I went to Paul Patisserie in Pacific Place Jakarta with my friend. We were so curious about this place because the hype was so high when this place opened for the first time so we decided to give it a try.

Luckily we came at the right time. The restaurant was full when we came and we were the first in the waiting list. After waited for about 5 minutes finally we got our seat inside. Yeay!

These are the display of their patisserie next to the cashier for those who wants to buy for take away. I can't take a lot of photos because it was crowded.

In total, we ordered 2 cakes and 1 set. A lot? You gotta see by yourself. Because, I told ya, once you were there, it feels like you wanna try all they have. So here it is.

1. Millefeuille Fraise
IDR 50k (not inc. taxes and service charge)

OMG!!! I LOVEEEEEE THIS CAKE so freaking much. For me this is the icon of Paul, the best from them. It looks so beautiful. I had to stared at it a few minutes until I finally ate it because it looks so good for my eyes.

The pastry were so crunchy while and the filling tasted so fresh and not too sweet. I love it! Super Perfect combination. I love the sliced strawberry in the filling it makes the cake so balance and have the sour, sweet, crunchy, salty, and cold.

My advice, you all HAVE TO try this then you know how nice this is.

2. Tartelette Framboise
IDR 55k (not inc. taxes and service charge)

It looks so beautiful too *cries*. The pie crust were too hard not crunchy so when you want to cut it you need to give a slightly more power. But the filling and framboise or raspberry were fine, super fine. Again, I love when fruit combines with pastry, it feels so fresh and it tasted so balance, it has all the flavor you can imagine you'll get from what it looks like.

Oh, what I don't like from raspberry is they got some kind like fibrous thingy outside the fruit so I feel kinda disgust when I'm about to eat this. But the taste is great so.... Yeah LOL

3. Menu cafe Surprise 1
IDR 95k (not inc. taxes and service charge)

The set consisted of:

a. a teapot of tea which you can choose what kind of tea you want and I chose Earl Grey

FYI, this tea is refill as much as you wish. Yeah! But the waiter said if you refill too much the taste would be plain. LOL. I know but it's refill as much as you wish sooooo I feel glad. HAHA

b. creme brulee

I love how is tasted. But it wasn't fully caramelized at the top so it didn't look delicious, it looks kinda pale.

c. Chocolate something (I forgot the name it's kinda like brownies)

When I was looking at their menu and saw this cake, it looks really nice and looks so tempting and we actually wanna ordered this single piece. But then, I found the menu set that this cake is included in that. So we ordered that set instead of the single piece. Unfortunately, the result didn't look as tempting as the picture is and the taste was so ordinary. For me, nothing really special about this cake.

b. Macaroon

These are they small macaroon, the one that cost around IDR 40k or more are the big macaroon. Both of them got different flavor.

Personally, I don't like macaroon. Seriously. I don't know why lol. The one that I ate is pineapple flavor. It's crispy outside but super soft in the inside. It's not too sweet too. But still, I don't like macaroon LOL ;)

Overall, I love this place, it's so comfy even tho it's quite crowded. I'm super in love with the pastry! Seriously, it's worth the price. Just perfect, melt in my tongue. I would definitely come back to try their main course because it looks super delish.

So after we finished eating, we went around the mall and went back to Paul because I wanted to but it for take away. Guess what? It was getting more crowded than we were there before and the waiting list was surely got a lot of people.

This is the box to take away

For addition, you also have to pay taxes if you want to but it for take away.

This is a must try place! Worth for every bite! I promise. Lemme know if you have tried this :)
