The Equalizer (2014) - 7/10
You could be whatever you want, change your world
Well you can searched about this movie,
the plot, the cast, the director, the budget, everything, on the internet so
yeah let's get down into business!
What I see or feel weird about:
00:08:10 Chloe
put down her left headset.
00:08:21 Well,
the scene of Chloe moved to another angle and it shows that she was still using
her left headset but her right headset that she supposed still using it wasn’t
actually where it had to be.
00:10:51 +
00:10:58 Chloe’s bag or purse were put horizontally.
00:11:00 Her
bag/purse’s position changed, it became vertically.
00:11:09 Her
bag/purse’s position came back to horizontal.
00:19:32 Of
course we knew the car was coming, it was so fast and obvious (not fast and
furious tho LOL) maybe you guys should make it less obvious.
00:38:35 These
are about the file consist of photos of the mafia that were killed by Denzel.
On the first photo at the bottom, the whole eye were taken out but on the right
photo, it was only a mark of the one-shot glass around the eye. I also think
that you couldn’t pull of someone’s eye just by upon stabbing in a one-shot
glass.
00:48:38 This
scene is confusing. What is it for, I didn’t see any purpose about this scene.
00:57:10 Chloe
(Jenny) looked fine, didn’t look like she was being robbed.
00:57:15 Thought
he was gonna do something tho but in the end he let the robber go.
01:11:13 The
different toilet trick was predictable and commonly used but in this film the
director still pulled it off nicely, I could fell the intensity was rising up
high.
01:32:00 This
scene is so unpredictable! When Rob came to Nikolai and when he gave Nikolai
the glasses with a stain of blood that belongs to the person who supposed to
looking for Rob. If I might say this, that was smooth af LOL!
01:32:43 That
fuckin’ laugh tho.
01:54:39 Excuse
me, who’s the real boss? Nikolai or that man. How dare you order around your
boss like that in the mafia world. Wow.
01:58:25 The
scene of Denzel that looked like this movie’s poster was too long man! And too
much of course.
Thoughts:
The opening was OK, a little bit interesting to see
Denzel Washington’s character, named Robert McCall, is such a very warm guy and
friendly at his work but very lonely when he’s home. This is classic but the
director successfully made the contrast between those two conditions when Rob’s
at home and when he’s at work. After that, when Chloe G. Moretz finally came
out, I was in complete shock, she looks very different and looked deeply in her
character but with a touch of Chloe’s. I don’t know, like every character that
Chloe has played, she looks into the character deeply but with Chloe’s touch,
like you could see a bit of her in the character.
I love, love, love the details and angle from this
movie, it gave me a strong message what the director wanted to show. Example,
those details at the first couple minutes, about Rob’s daily activity, details
when the water out from the tap. The details when Teri (Chloe) got beaten up,
the make-up made it looks so freaking real, thanks to the make-up artist I guess
LOL. Also, the details when Rob went to Slavi’s office and killed all of them,
and when Rob was fighting, they had those details about the estimated time,
what to do, and what’s the results, kinda like Sherlock but with the estimated
time. I think that was so cool.
There was the time before Nikolai sat with Rob, at
the restaurant, Nikolai rejected his boss’s phone call. It surprised me because
how could you reject your boss’s phone call especially in the mafia world,
Russian mafia world to be exact. The other time when Nikolai’s henchman ordered
him at the houseware store, I said it before on the timecode’s part, how could
you ordered around your boss? This is totally new to me, and not a common thing
to see in a mafia’s movie or other lookalike movie’s genre.
There was the time when Slavi was on the phone with
Rob, and Slavi transferred the call from his henchman, who kidnapped Rob’s
friend at the houseware store, to Rob, so he would come save his friends. That was
some pretty cool stuff too. Those scenes when they were fighting at the
houseware store, Rob’s workplace, that reminds me of Home Alone, this might be “Houseware
Alone”.
I wasn’t happy and satisfy with the ending. Seems they
rushed it, because the durations has been too long, so they made Rob killed the
Nikolai’s boss easily in a very clean and smart way. But that was a cool ending
because after he killed the boss, he went out from the bathroom, he walked out and actually Rob have already
killed the boss’s henchman. Addition, the song in the end is nice.
I feel like the end wasn’t really finished yet. After
Rob killed the boss, someday he met Teri again, she became someone new, a
better person. And….. yeah that’s it. The end. Anyway, how could Rob didn’t
even get touch by the police after all he had done. Well I guess the duration
has been too long for an action movie so that’s not necessary.
The story is mainstream, a lot of movies have
stories like that too. But the differences are actors and angle and stuff like
that. I love Denzel in this movie, he really truly deeply suits the character
of a warm, loyal man, but a cold-blooded killer. He nailed it! So did Chloe (no
explain needed tho).
This film’s angle, from where the director chose to
shot the scenes, all of that was amazing, he succeed at giving the message. While
you were watching, you can feel how intense it is, even tho the trick was
commonly used at these kinds of movies. I just love how the director served his
movie to us.
This is one of the must see film. It is very unpredictable too, the plot was amazing. It is very
intense, but gotta admit the ending wasn’t quite satisfying for me. But overall,
the ending wasn’t that bad, it really gives a message of who Rob really is, a man
with a very kind heart who wants justice to a teenage girl who wasn’t supposed
to be who she is at her age.
P.S
this is my first movie review, I do really work hard on it, I do best as I can.
